Barbara Broadcast

1977, dir. Radley Metzger (as Henry Paris)

“A film in four courses”

In an elegant midtown restaurant where both gourmet food and sex are on the menu, a lunch interview between former high-class prostitute and acclaimed author Barbara Broadcast (Annette Haven) and journalist Roberta (C.J. Laing) gives way to an afternoon of sexual excess. As Barbara seduces her way through a corporate office, Roberta steams things up in the kitchen with a bemused dishwasher (Wade Nichols). The two run into a friend (Jamie Gillis) later that night at a nightclub, who regales the pair with an account of the bondage scene he recently had with a submissive (Constance Money).

The follow-up to acclaimed filmmaker Radley Metzger’s masterpiece The Opening of Misty Beethoven, Barbara Broadcast is a light but immaculately produced piece of classy porno chic filmmaking filled with Metzger’s trademark witty dialogue and lush visuals.
