Maraschino Cherry

1977, dir. Radley Metzger (as Henry Paris)

“Another Henry Paris extravaganza!"

Maraschino Cherry (Gloria Leonard) is a high-class Manhattan madame who takes on the task of initiating her younger sister Penny (Jenny Baxter) into the family business. As she educates Penny in the finer points of the world’s oldest profession, she recounts a series of past encounters (one of which featuring a cameo from performance artist Spalding Gray!) while also taking the time to periodically check in on her submissive (C.J. Laing), who is a little tied up for the afternoon.

The final film made by Radley Metzger under his “Henry Paris” pseudonym, Maraschino Cherry is a fitting swan song, filled with the acclaimed filmmaker’s trademark sparkling visuals, scorching eroticism, and sophisticated comedy.
